Shady business practices

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full

I applied for a homeowners insurance policy and was sold a split policy through Magnolia Home and Auto in Metairie, LA who sold us a Citizens policy, which covered wind and hail, and an Allied Trust Insurance Company policy which covered everything else. I was never told that Allied had $200 policy fee.

They canceled my policy due to "underwriting concerns", with the cancelation going into effect 3/21/2024. I had no choice but to seek coverage elsewhere. I found someone to cover us so we didn't risk the higher cost of lender placed coverage, and also to make sure we were covered. We set our new policy up right away, and were told by an Allied rep that since we did not wait it out until their cancelation date, we would not be getting our $200 back.

This makes no sense to me as they didn't want our business anyway. They are the ones that gave us a termination date only because the law requires them to do so.

We paid them $712, and were told via email that only $454.00 would be returned. They charged us $712 for the year, of which is a $200 policy fee then charged us in "day increments" with each day costing $1.40, so our total fee was $57.40 for the 41 days insured before they canceled us - we are now still owed $200.00, which is our desired settlement - just getting our policy fee back of $200 (the uninsured portion) It's heinous that they would keep that money when they did nothing. An Allied rep told us that the only way to get the money back is to get our prior agent to lobby for us.

There's no way he's going to do that as we are not friends, but I did try to call him and send an email and no one's responding there either, as I expected. It's a sad thing that an insurance company can accept you as a client, and then within weeks cancel your insurance and claim that $200 of the premium is a nonrefundable filing fee.

It's nothing for these insurance companies to say they write in Louisiana, take our money and cancel us. I don't know what their rules say, but this is a very shady business practice.

Check if Allied contacted Velocity Credit Union stating I was never without insurance

No one has ever answered my question. I really need to find this out. I have called at least five five times and they still havent answered my question. Im not an allied member but they had my auto insured because there was an issue with Velocity Credit Union and they gave it to Allied. The issue was straightened out because of no fault of mine. No I cant reach Allied because they wont answer.

Scam artists

They subcontract to financial institutions to review loan accounts and charge the ones without insurance. They are completely inflexible and try everything they can to keep your money even when you show proof of insurance. Avoid at all costs and do not trust your loan provider not to enable them.

So many calls

I looked into a renters' insurance policy through allied and got an online quote however I went with another company because they have me better coverage at a lower price. I received 4 calls from an agent today trying to sell me homeowners insurance and when I apologized and let them know if already selected a different policy she just hung up. If tell you her name, but she didn't tell me. It was extremely rude and I'm very glad I didn't file with you all if that's how you do business.

Scam Insurance

Never use this company. They’re under investigation in South Carolina right now. While insured under Allied, we ended up paying 30K in medical bills, plus our monthly premium. They catalog everything under pre-existing condition, and then wait for you to tire of fighting them. What’s worse than Allied, is the government not shutting down this company.

Dont waste your time. They wont cover anything and will blatantly lie to you. This company is full of crooks. We have replaced a lot of systems in our new home under their "warranty". They have not covered a penny and after arguing with them on the phone they still will not. Skeevy crooks please do not go this route.

Horrible! Run as fast as you can.

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full

I filled out a form for a quote and I was immediately bombarded by phone calls. Endless calls from various numbers.

I got 25 calls in one evening. Boiler room noises in the background. When I spoke to them, they would not take "No" for an answer. Called me fifteen times the next day.

Who would do business with someone so aggressive? One man said they didn't have to stop calling me since I had willingly given them my phone number. Run as fast as you can. Do not do business with these people.

Ring, ring, ring, Hang up.

Beyond a nightmare

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
I have got over $250,000 in medical claims that have gone unpaid For over a year. I’ve never been able to get a straight answer out of anyone who works for allied insurance company who works in customer service Now I’m being sued. I’m currently preparing to sue this company individually. However, I suggest that everyone in my situation or worse should consider joining together in a class action law suite against Allied. Based on the reviews I’ve read, this company refuses to pay any claims. A class action law suite that can result in punitive damages (Punishment against allied) In an amount equal to millions of dollars..one hundred million or more. Kind of like “big tabacco” or BP (ie..oil sills in the Gulf of Mexico). We only need three people!!
